In the Clouds

As if we were coming from the unknown and from the top of the mountain towards the sea. Drowning in a sea of clouds, in humidity, we enter the green labyrinth of old foliage and and hundred-year-old tree trunks. The fire would bring new landscape in red, black and white. As we descended, we noticed civilization.

The first photographs of this set, in black and white, were taken in 1992. The most recent were taken in 2018. The burned landscape was photographed in 2016, after the fire which occurred in August of that year and which almost reached the centre of Funchal. All the photos are of Madeira island.
