Abstract

This paper is about architectural programs that question places defined by research in design. The goal is to think about the design processes underlying the architect’s practice when this practice is associated with research, seeking to highlight the architect’s contribution to problematize and to formulate new working hypotheses. The recognition of the importance of this process establishes a dialectical relationship between theoretical and practical research, between time and space, which is enhanced by the fact that both fall within the same disciplinary field. This design process, by implying an alliance between research and design, promotes new approaches, new experiences, creating a knowledge corpus inherent to the act of designing.
